Couple of Beers SNL

One of the awesome things about recovery meetings that I've learned is that humor is so important when being vulnerable. I have heard and expressed stories that can make people cringe, cry, or be disgusted. That's why we keep our clothes on. We are all afraid of being judged. But in that room, everyone shares a common bond. We've already been shamed, and we find comfort with those who have no pride left to fight for. All we want is healing and freedom. We know the lies are what destroyed us in the first place. Everyone looks at each other in their rawness, and we are all profoundly fascinated by how beautiful it is. But sometimes the only way to truly be authentic is to be funny while doing it. It's hard to judge when you're laughing and smiling. It's hard to be disingenuous when you are sharing your guts and people are appreciating the way you do it. This is a funny skit by SNL, but any alcoholic will tell you that this is exactly their story in one way or another.
